5 tips to save money but still eat out

Saving money and enjoying good food at the same time seems to make a great combination. Yet, trying every raved and reviewed restaurant can be expensive... eating out at a restaurant at all can start to add up. While it is cheaper and more budget friendly to eat food at home, sometimes you can't resist the urge to eat at your favorite restaurant. Here are some tips to eating out and saving money too.

1. Skip having an appetizer before you meal.

Add-ons to your meal can start to get expensive.

2. Make the appetizers your entire meal.

If you still want appetizers, order your whole meal straight from the appetizer menu. Most times the portions are smaller, but so is the price. Try skipping getting an appetizer or decline being offered the dessert menu.

3. Get water to drink.

It's free and good for you to stay hydrated.

4. Split the bill.

When you're going out with friends, consider sharing a dish or two and split the bill. It'll be easier on everyone's pockets.

5. Share an Entree with a friend.

Sharing is caring... and cheaper. Pick something that is large enough to feed two or maybe even three and split the cost that way.

  1. This is very interesting. I love to eat out and I need to either stop or I need to learn to save money. Thank you for your tips. I tend to eat off of the appetizer menu when I feel like trying a bunch of things at the same time. The whole water thing is the only thing that I cannot do just because I don't like it.
