Thai Food at Thai One

Thai food has become one of my favorite types of food recently. Mostly because of the delicious food that is at Thai One. Not only is it's name is clever, but the food at Thai One is at such a standard that each thai food restaurant I visit is always compared to Thai One.

Thai One (not to be confused with Sushi One) is located at 2541 11th Ave. in  Greeley, which is conveniently within walking distance to the dorms at the University of Northern Colorado. And more to the convenience of the restaurant, it can be delivered to your home or dormitory through the delivery service Order Up. A resident assistant at UNC says she loves ordering Thai one because of the quality of food, and because of the convenience.

"I love that I can order Thai One to my dorm. It is one of the favorite places to eat in Greeley, especially when I want some sushi." - Ashley Johnson

When I first went to the restaurant, I had a difficult time deciding what to eat because the menu is so extensive. The restaurant offers appetizers, soups, salads, stir fry, fried rice and noodles. Even more exciting for me was the sushi menu. Before eating at Thai One, I was hesitant, rather adamant about not trying sushi. But my  mind has changed thanks in part to the delicious baked salmon roll at That One.

Thai Iced Tea with tapioca balls

My two favorite menu items are easily the combo fried rice and the baked salmon roll. The combo fried rice is like the normal fried rice and includes your choice of jasmine or brown rice, steamed vegetables, beef, cooked shrimp, and minced chicken for the protein. What is great about the sushi is that it is made fresh and in your face. The price varies depending on the size of the sushi roll that the customer chooses.

If you are like me and enjoy a spicy meal here and there, then the sweet chili chicken is the menu item for you. It is fried chicken and peanuts covered in a sweet chili sauce and garlic powder. That complimented with a side of jasmine rice makes a great and fulfilling meal with just the right amount of "kick" to it.

Thai one also has a great selection of bubble teas, ranging from coconut tea, to green mint, to watermelon. Now, before coming to Thai one I absolutely DID NOT even want to think about trying bubble tea. My reservations came from tapioca balls that are in the drink. Yet, I gave in and decided to try the Thai iced tea... and boy am I glad I faced my fears! The drink is a great compliment to the spiciness of any spicy Thai food, including the sweet chili chicken. The tea is a staple in most Thai food restaurants and most times is a fan favorite. So, if you haven't had it yet, it's time to take the venture.

Local employees and families alike enjoy coming to Thai One especially for lunch. Reginald works at a nearby bank and says he is a regular customer at Thai One.

"I eat there all of the time. I like going for lunch. I usually bring a few coworkers and we just sit down and eat and talk. It's really a good time." -Reginald
